MADISON, Wis. – Two members of the UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team were named to the All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) teams announced by the league office on Wednesday (Feb. 28). Junior
Malik Abdul-Wahid (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) earned first team honors while freshman
Josiah Butler (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) was bestowed honorable mention team laurels.
Ryan Peterson (Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines) was named to the WAIC All-Sportsmanship team.

Abdul-Wahid lands a first-team honor in his first season with the Pointers. He played in 26 games with starts in his final 24 appearances. He led the Pointers in scoring at 14.1 points per game, the seventh-best scoring average in the league. He posted a pair of double-doubles and poured in double-digit points in 19 games. Abdul-Wahid scored 20 or more on five occasions, including a season-high 29 at UW-River Falls. He also led the Pointers in rebounds with 124 and steals with 44.
Butler garners a league honor in his first campaign at UWSP. He started all 27 games and average 13.6 points per game, second to Abdul-Wahid on the team. Butler led the Pointers in three-point shooting with 47 makes and a team-high 1.7 makes per game. He also led the Pointers with 86 made free throws. His 55 assists were second on the team. Butler had one double-double on the year and scored in double figures in 21 games, including a season-high 25 points at Trine.
Peterson earns All-Sportsmanship team honors after playing in 12 games this season. He scored eight points this season and went 3-for-3 at the free throw line. Peterson grabbed eight rebounds in 51 minutes of action.
The Pointers reached the WIAC Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2019. UWSP's 14 wins this season were also the most since 2019-20.
