STERLING, Ill. – The UW-Stevens Point men's tennis team was shut out by Augustana on Saturday, 9-0.
The Pointers nearly took the No. 2 doubles.
Luca Hettstedt (Marbella, Spain/German School Marbella) and
Conner Kryscio (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) battled to a tiebreak, ultimately losing, 8-7 (2).
Kryscio forced a super-breaker in his No. 3 singles match. He won the opening set on a tiebreak, 7-6 (4). He then dropped set, 6-3, and came up short in the super-breaker, 12-10.
Steven Benoy (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) and
Frederick Diehl (Minneapolis, Minn./Academy of Holy Angles) won three games at No. 1 doubles.
Hayden Schreier (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) and Dominik Henderickson won two games at No. 3 doubles.
Benoy won five games in his No. 1 singles match. Hettstedt won three games at No. 4 singles. At No. 2 singles, Diehl won a game in each set.
The Pointers travel to UW-Superior on Saturday (Feb. 17) for a 3:00 p.m. match.
