FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's soccer team (8-6-4) saw two players score their first career goals as the Pointers played to a 2-2 draw at Marian (3-11-5) in the non-conference finale on Wednesday.
The host Sabres struck first in the third minute of play on a rainy, windy night.
In the 33rd minute, the Pointers were awarded a penalty kick.
Connor Urban (Waukesha, Wis./West) stepped to the spot and buried the kick for his first career goal.
Just before halftime,
Charlie McGinnis (Verona, Wis./Verona Area) scored his first career goal to put UWSP ahead, 2-1, in the 45th minute.
Marcelo Chavez (Verona, Wis./Verona Area) had an assist on the goal.
The lead lasted just a minute and 20 seconds into the second half as Marian pulled level.
The teams played the final 43 minutes with neither breaking the deadlock.

Jacob Havlik (Onalaska, WIs./Onalaska) made one save. Marian goalkeepers Nathan Espinosa and Connor Farrell combined for three saves.
The Pointers close out the inaugural regular season on Saturday (Nov. 2) at UW-Platteville. Kick off is slated for 1:00 p.m.
