Wellhausen Shines with Win in 1500 at Platteville Invite

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams participated at a condensed one day Platteville Invite on Friday, an event that was supposed to span two days. The women took eight among 13 teams while the men were ninth in the 14-team field.
 
Results
 
Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot) got the only win for the Pointers, taking first place in the 1500-meter run. Her time of 4:45.93 was nearly two seconds ahead of the runner up.
 
Wellhausen teamed up with Mackenzie Johnson (Cumberland, Wis./Cumberland), Ashley Bartelt (Hartford, Wis./Hartford Union) and Anetha Vogele (Necedah, Wis./Necedah) to take second in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:59.62.
 
Bartelt landed in third place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.25.
 
On the men's side, Quinn Greer (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn) placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.37.
 
UWSP's 4x400-meter relay team of Aiden Leist (Hortonville, WIs./Hortonville), Mason Mead (Wausau, Wis./West), Kaedon Welte (Byron, Ill./Byron) and Chance Jampole (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) also finished fifth clocking a time of 43.91.
 
The Pointers will be in action again next Friday (April 21) with competitions in La Crosse and De Pere.
