STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to visiting UW-La Crosse in the Pointers' first home league match.
Steven Benoy (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) nearly won a point at No. 1 singles going to a tiebreak in the defeat. He rallied from a 6-2 set one loss to win the second set, 6-3. But in the tiebreak, he came up short, 10-6.
He paired with
Diego Mosquera Herrero (Madrid, Spain) at No. 1 doubles losing by an 8-6 final. Mosquera Herrero won five games at No. 2 singles.
Samuel Zapata Hernandez (Envigado, Col./Colegio Colombo Britanico) also won five games in his match at No. 5 singles.
Dan Harris (Eau Claire, Wis./Altoona) did the same at No 6 singles.
The Pointers travel to UW-Whitewater on Friday (April 14) for a 12:00 p.m. league match.
