NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point men's tennis team (6-9) fell at St. Olaf (3-5) on Saturday by a 9-0 final.
All three of UWSP's doubles teams battled. The No. 1 pairing of
Steven Benoy (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) and
Diego Mosquera Herrero (Madrid, Spain) dropped an 8-5 decision.
Hayden Schreier (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) and
Connor Paullin (East Troy, Wis./East Troy) at No. 2 and
Samuel Zapata Hernandez (Envigado, Col./Colegio Colombo Britanico) and
Dan Harris (Eau Claire, Wis./Altoona) at No. 3 doubles fell by 8-4 finals.
Benoy came the closest to earning a point. He won his first set at No. 1 singles, 6-4. After dropping the second set, he also fell in the tiebreaker.
Moquera Herrero and Harris each won five games at No. 2 and No. 6 singles, respectively, by 6-2, 6-3 scores. Schreier won four games at No. 3 singles. Paullin won three games at No. 4 and Zapata Hernandez won a game in each set at No. 5 singles.
