Abby Hopfensperger (Appleton, Wis./West),
Joy Vandenberg (Black Creek, Wis./Appleton North),
Kyler Ernst (Fountain City, Wis./Luther),
Cameron Harris (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) and
Will Lennertz (Muskego, Wis./Franklin) were all named to the College Sports Communicators (former COSIDA) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on Tuesday (Feb. 28).

Hopfensperger lands her first academic all-district award. She was the top UWSP women's diver at eight meets this year, winning both the one-meter dive and the three-meter dive at the UW-Whitewater Dual. At the Point Invite earlier this season, Hopfensperger set the UW-Stevens Point Pool Record in the one-meter dive with 415.80 points. She placed fourth in the three-meter dive at the WIAC Championships with a score of 403.70.

Vandenberg receives her first academic all-district honor. She won seven events this season for the Pointers. Vandenberg won the 50-yard freestyle three times against Northern Michigan University, UW-Whitewater and UW-Eau Claire. She also picked up three wins in the 100-yard butterfly against UW-Whitewater, UW-Eau Claire and at the Wheaton Invitational. Vandenberg's seventh win of the season came in the 100-yard breaststroke against UW-Oshkosh. She also swam a leg on four first-place finishing relay teams this season.

Ernst picks up her first academic all-district laurel as well. She won the 100-yard backstroke twice this season, once against UW-Oshkosh and once at the Point Invite. Ernst recorded season-best times in the 50-yard freestyle, the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke at the WIAC Championships. Ernst swam in two relays that finished in first place this season.

Harris lands his first academic all-district nod. He won three events for the Pointers this season, taking the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard breaststroke against UW-Oshkosh and the 400-yard IM at the Wheaton Invite. Harris clocked his personal-best time of 4:06.80 in the 400-yard IM to finish third at the WIAC Championships.

Lennertz also receives his first academic all-district award. He won five individual events this season for the Pointers. Lennertz won the 50-yard freestyle three times this season, once at the Point Invite and against UW-Oshkosh and UW-Whitewater. He also picked up two wins the 200-yard breaststroke, one at the Point Invite and one against UW-Whitewater. Lennertz also swam a leg in five first-place finishing relays this season.
Harris and Lennertz helped the UWSP men win their 23rd-consecutive WIAC Championship earlier this month.
To qualify, a student must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
