Pointers Close Out WIAC Track and Field Championships

MENOMONIE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams each dropped a team position on the final day of the WIAC Championships (presented by Culver's) with the men taking seventh and the women finishing sixth.
 
Results: Men | Women
 
Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot) led the way for the women with a second-place finish in the 800-meter run. Her time of 2:13.01 was less than a half second behind the event winner.
 
She also led off the 4x400-meter relay with teammates Ashley Bartely, Anetha Vogele (Necedah, Wis./Necedah) and Mackenzie Johnson (Cumberland, Wis./Cumberland) that came in second. The group's time was 3:56.89.
 
The men were led by Casey Ploederl (Clintonville, Wis./Clintonville), who took sixth in the high jump with a height of 1.94 meters (6' 4.25").
 
Logan Lutz (Greendale, Wis./Greendale) took seventh in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.18.
 
The 4x400-meter relay team of Aiden Leist (Hortonville, WIs./Hortonville), Mason Mead (Wausau, Wis./West), Chris Kalies (Grafton, Wis./Grafton) and Tyler Santi (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) also placed seventh with a time of 3:24.62.
 
The Pointers will compete at select last chance meets next weekend.

200-meter dash: Mason Mead (Wausau, Wis./West) – 23.02, 19th
800-meter run: Logan Lutz (Greendale, Wis./Greendale) – 1:56.18, 7th
3000-meter run: Josh Jumbeck – 8:47.34, 17th
4x400-meter relay: Aiden Leist (Hortonville, WIs./Hortonville), Mason Mead (Wausau, Wis./West), Chris Kalies (Grafton, Wis./Grafton), Tyler Santi (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) – 3:24.62, 7th
High jump: Casey Ploederl (Clintonville, Wis./Clintonville) – 1.94 meters (6' 4.25"), 6th
Triple jump: Caleb Carter (Lisle, Ill./Lisle) – 13.42 meters (44' 0.50"), 12th
Weight throw: Andrew Durham (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) – 15.64 meters (51' 3.75"), 9th
Heptathlon: Jack Luedtke (Plymouth, Wis./Plymouth) – 4014, 13th
 
Women
200-meter dash: Mackenzie Johnson (Cumberland, Wis./Cumberland) – 26.43, 11th
800-meter run: Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot) – 2:13.01, 2nd
3000-meter run: Paige Allemann (Waumandee, Wis./Cochrane-Fountain City) – 10:46.71, 15th
