Box Score STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 13 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (3-2-0) needed an overtime winner from
Evan Junker (Elk River, Minn.) to take a 4-3 victory over St. Olaf (2-3-0) in non-conference play on Saturday. The win was UWSP's third-straight at home to open the season.
Noah Finstrom (New Baltimore, Mich.) gave UWSP the lead at 6:21 of the first period.
Fletcher Anderson (Thunder Bay, Ont./Sir William Churchill) and
Andrew Poulias (Whitby, Ont.) had assists on the power-play goal.
Finstrom notched his second of the game, again on the power play, at the 15:22 mark of the first.
Dawson Sciarrino (Greensburg, Pa.) and
Mick Heneghan (Niles, Ill.) had assists on the goal.
Gino Colangelo (Newmarket, Ont.) scored his first goal at UWSP at 11:41 of the second period to extend the lead to 3-0. Poulias tallied his second assist of the night.
The Oles got a goal back at 12:08 of the second. St. Olaf scored a shorthanded goal just 2:54 into the third to make it a one-goal game. Then at the 13:48 mark, the Oles tied the game at 3-3 on the power play.
The game went to overtime and UWSP controlled the draw. At 2:00 of overtime, Junker gave the Pointers with win. Finstrom got his third point of the night with an assist and Sciarrino recorded his second helper on the game-winner.
UWSP closes the homestand with the conference opener on Tuesday (Nov. 14) against UW-Eau Claire. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 p.m.
