LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The UW-Stevens Point women's wrestling team fell in both duals on the opening day of the NWCA Multi-National Duals. UWSP came up short, 30-15, in the opening dual against Gannon before a 35-11 defeat against Sacred Heart.
Results
Abby Nelson (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) led the way for the Pointers going 2-0 on the day. She won a 10-0 tech fall against Gannon at 123. Then against SHU, she needed just 50 seconds to pin her opponent.
Rose Ann Marshall (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) also earned a 10-0 tech fall victory against Gannon at 116.
Amor Tuttle (North St. Paul, Minn./Stillwater Area Senior) won an 11-6 decision at 130 and
Jade Herzer (Wisconsin Dells, Wis./Wisconsin Dells) took a 2-1 decision win at 155 versus Gannon.
Alexis Winecke (Baraboo, Wis./Baraboo) earned a point versus Gannon at 109. She won a 13-11 decision against SHU.
Marshall, Herzer and
Anna Strand () each won a point in the dual with Sacred Heart.
In the
open tournament,
Olivia Hollenbeck (Tacoma, Wash./Bethel) took third at 123. She won a match by fall.
Claire Matthews (Clarksville, Tenn./Clarksville) won by tech fall, 12-0, in the consolation bracket at 155.
