Schrang Captures First-Place Finish in 60-Meter Hurdles at Titan Challenge

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams finished the day out at the Titan Challenge with the men in fourth place and the women taking seventh. The men completed in 11 events while the women completed in nine events overall.

On the men's side, Jared Schrang (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) led the way by taking a first-place finish in 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.36. He was the only Pointer to win an event in Oshkosh.
 
The Pointers grab a fourth-place finish in the one mile run from Michael Kluz (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) finishing with a time of 4:23.82.
 
Blake Orr (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) threw for 17.14 meters (56' 3.00") in weight throw, good for a fifth-place finish. Orr has been a consistent force in weight throw and shot put for the Pointers in the past few meets.
 
Moving to the women's side, UWSP grabbed three second-place finishes. These came from Leyna Herzog (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) in the 200-meter dash, Esme Reinders (Eau Claire, Wis./Regis) running the 400-meter dash and Catie Gage (Janesville, Wis./Parker) in the 3000-meter run.
 
Katie Schaefer (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) also finished close behind Gage in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:41.03, good for third place.

Kasy Walker-Daniels (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) nabbed a fourth-place finish in triple jump with a distance of 10.49 meters (35' 8.75").
 
Up next, the Pointers will travel to UW-Platteville for the WIAC Championships (presented by Culver's). The first event will take place at 11:30 a.m. at Williams Fieldhouse on Friday (Feb. 25).

Triple Jump: Tom Cole – 12.79 meters (41' 11.50"), 9th
