WHITEWATER, Wis. – Freshman Rachel Krouse (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) broke the school record in the 5000-meter run as the UW-Stevens Point track and field teams competed at the Midwest Invitational. The women's team finished in sixth overall, while men's team finished eighth the on the day.
 
Results
 
Krouse clocked in at 17:16.22 in the 5000-meter run to break the school record that stood for 20 years. She won the event by nearly two seconds in a field of 34 runners.
 
The Pointer women also brought home a few fourth-place finishes. They consisted of Jillian Hesse (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) in weighted throw and Leyna Herzog (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) in the 200-meter dash.
 
Blake Orr (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) led the way for the Pointer men with a third-place finish in the shot put with a distance of 14.88 meters (48' 10.00"). He also landed a fourth-place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 17.00 meters (55' 9.25").
 
Braedon Gilles (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) clinching a third-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.65.  Gilles teamed with Tyler Santi (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper), Brad Brewer (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) and Trevor Howe (Viroqua, Wis./Viroqua) to take fourth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:27.94.
 
The Pointers will be competing next at the Titan Challenge on Saturday, Feb 19^th. Start time of the first event is TBA.
