STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's wrestling team had a solid performance at the season-opening Pointer Open on Saturday.
Results
Kelly Enriquez (Waukesha, Wis./South) placed second in the 101 bracket. She went 3-1 with a win by fall and two tech fall victories.
Jade Herzer (Wisconsin Dells, Wis./Wisconsin Dells) had four wins on the day to place third in the 170 bracket. Three of her wins were by tech fall with the other being a 6-1 decision.
Tabitha Breitrick (Clintonville, Wis./Clintonville) and Claire Matthews each had a win in the bracket as well.
In the 123 bracket, UWSP had four wrestlers with
Abby Nelson (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) and
Rose Ann Marshall (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) each winning three matches. Rian Grunwald and
Olivia Hollenbeck (Tacoma, Wash./Bethel) each won once in the bracket.
Alexis Winecke finished fourth and
Angelica Torres Lima (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine East) sixth in the 116 bracket. Winecke picked up two tech falls and two falls in her collegiate debut. Torres Lima had two wins by fall and a decision victory.
Amor Tuttle (North St. Paul, Minn./Stillwater Area Senior) won the consolation bracket at 136. She had three tech fall wins and a decision victory.
Shaina Hyre took sixth in the 109 bracket. She won her first collegiate match by fall. Then in the consolation bracket, she earned a tech fall win and a victory by fall.
Katlyn Grant won by fall in her first match as a Pointer in the 143 bracket.
The Pointers travel to Michigan for the Adrian Women's Open on Nov. 13. Action begins at 9:00 a.m. ET.
