UWSP Softball Releases 2023 Schedule

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Sixth-year head coach Ryan Konitzer announced his schedule for the 2023 UW-Stevens Point softball season today. The Pointers will host the first annual UTC Invite to open the season in Rhinelander and have six home doubleheaders slated for McCarty Memorial Field this season.

The Pointers open the 2023 campaign on Feb. 25 with games against Concordia (Wis.) and Edgewood at the Hodag Dome in Rhinelander. The next day, UWSP takes on Ripon and Marian to complete opening weekend.
 
On March 2 and 3, the Pointers travel to Peoria, Ill. For the Blue Angel Invite. Opponents and game times have yet to be finalized. UWSP will then embark on the annual Spring Break Trip with eight games in the Sunshine State between March 20 and 24. Opponents, locations and game times will be announced at a later date.
 
UWSP's home opener at McCarty Memorial Field will be against Lakeland on March 29. First pitch against the Muskies is set for 2:00 p.m.
 
After a twin bill in Illinois, the Pointers head to St. Norbert on April 4 for a doubleheader. League play begins on the road at UW-River Falls on April 7.
 
The conference home opener is April 11 against UW-Whitewater with a 2:00 p.m. start time.  UWSP remains at home to play two against Rockford University on April 15 with a scheduled noon start. The next day, the Pointers travel to UW-Platteville.
 
A huge home weekend against league foes UW-Eau Claire on UW-Oshkosh follows with 1:00 p.m. first pitches on April 22 and 23, respectively. Road conference doubleheaders sandwich UWSP's home finale on April 30 against Dubuque.
 
The Pointers finished 2022 with 19 wins with six shutouts and a victory over then #10 Tufts in March. All-Region selection Maddie Candre (St. Charles, Ill./East) and all-conference picks Jesse Klicker (Spring Grove, Ill/Richmond-Burton Community), Makenna Tkach (Streator, Ill./Marquette Academy) and Sara Traxel (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) lead an experienced group of returners. Candre tied the school record for career doubles in the regular season finale last year.
