Luke Smiley (Plainfield, Ill./North) remained unbeaten on the season by winning the 157 bracket at the Pete Willson Invitational on Saturday. His finish helped the Pointers place fifth in the 29-team tournament.

Smiley improved his season record to 20-0 with a pair of victories to win top honors in the 157 bracket. In his semifinal match, he pinned his opponent in the second period. Then in the title match, he came away with a 3-2 decision win.
Brandon Peckham (Plainfield, Wis./Tri-County) took second place in the 165 bracket. He won his semifinal match over No. 4 Chase Schmidt of UWEC with a 5-3 decision. In the title match against No. 2 Bradan Birt of Millikin, he suffered a second-period fall.
Matt Berlin (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) finished fifth in the 133 bracket. He opened Saturday with a 6-2 decision loss in the semifinals. Then in the fifth-place match, he prevailed with a second-period fall.
The Pointers host UW-La Crosse in the final regular season dual on Friday (Feb. 4). It's the final home event and will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Berg Gym.
