UWSP’s Flory, Nelson Garner All-Conference Accolades

MADISON, Wis. – UW-Stevens Point men's basketball players Philip Flory (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Oshkosh North) and Garrett Nelson (Beaver Dam, Wis./Beaver Dam) were named to the All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams announced by the league on Tuesday (March 9).  Flory was a first-team selection while Nelson earned honorable mention laurels.  Brady Wagner (Lake Mills, Wis./Lake Mills) was tabbed with WIAC All-Sportsmanship honors.

Flory led the league in scoring at 20.7 points per game and free throw percentage with 1.000 (41-41).  In his first season at UWSP, he made all 41 free throws, just two shy of tying the school record for consecutive makes.  His 1.000 free throw percentage is tied for the best in school history for a season.  Flory scored in double figures in all nine games, including a season-high 27 against UW-Platteville on Feb. 10.  He recorded a double-double versus UW-Oshkosh on Feb. 17.
 
Nelson grabs his first league honor in his fourth year at UWSP.  He averaged 15.2 points per game, a career-best.  He was in double-digit scoring in seven games with a season-high 22 at UW-Oshkosh on Feb. 19.  Nelson led UWSP in assists with 34, third-best in the conference.
 
Wagner picks up all-sportsmanship recognition after playing in all nine games this season.  He averaged a career-high 5.3 points per game and buried 11 three-pointers on the season. Wagner had a career-high 16 points in two games this season, hitting four times behind the arc in each.
 
The Pointers finished the 2020-21 season with a 2-7 record.  UWSP fell in the WIAC Tournament quarterfinals at UW-La Crosse.
