STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's wrestling team (5-2, 1-2) won its first league dual, 19-16, over visiting UW-Platteville (1-1, 0-1) on Thursday.
 
Noah Wieczorek (Clear Lake, Wis./Clear Lake) broke a 16-16 tie with a decision win at 285.  His 10-4 win sealed the conference victory for the Pointers.
 
Kaden Rosas (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) got the Pointers on the board at 133 with a 14-5 major decision.  Luke Smiley (Plainfield, Ill./North) picked up the only fall of the night, pinning his foe at 4:33 at 157.
 
Brandon Peckham (Plainfield, Wis./Tri-County) needed overtime to pick up a hard-fought 4-2 decision at 165 over an opponent who was ranked fifth in the nation.  Jerry Lipke (Milton, Wis./Milton) also won by decision, 10-8, at 184 before Wieczorek wrapped up the win at 285.
 
The Pointers remain at home with a tri-dual against Bryant & Stratton and Luther on Dec. 10. The first dual starts at 6:00 p.m.
