ADRIAN, Mich. – The UW-Stevens Point men's wrestling team won all four duals at the Adrian Duals on Saturday. The Pointers defeated Alma (47-3), Ohio Northern (21-16), Otterbein (30-21) and host Adrian (26-15).
Results
Matt Berlin (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek),
Luke Smiley (Plainfield, Ill./North),
Brandon Peckham (Plainfield, Wis./Tri-County) and
Ben Gunderson (Shiocton, Wis./Shiocton) all went 4-0 on the day.
Berlin won all four matches at 133 by fall, three of which came in the first period. Gunderson had two wins by fall at 285 and his other two victories were by two-point decisions.
Smiley knocked off the No. 4 ranked wrestler at 157 with a 4-1 decision against Otterbein. He also earned a tech fall, major decision and 5-0 decision wins on the day.
Peckham was battled tested all day at 165. He won a 15-6 major decision versus Alma. Against ONU, he won a 2-1 decision and earned a 5-2 decision win against Adrian. In his match with Otterbein, he won a tiebreaker, 2-1.
Ben Kasten (Reedsville, Wis./Brillion) was 3-0 at 174.
Blaze Thurber (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa) won twice at 125.
Jerry Lipke (Milton, Wis./Milton) earned two wins at 184 as did
Drew Willeman (Osceola, Wis./Osceola) at 141.
The Pointers return to conference action on Thursday (Nov. 18) with a 7:00 p.m. dual at UW-Oshkosh.
