MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Junior
Matt Berlin (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) will head to the NCAA Championships in March with an undefeated record after winning the 133 bracket at the Upper Midwest Regional on Saturday. As a team, the UW-Stevens Point men's wrestling team tied for sixth with 82 points.
Results
Berlin won his semifinal match by a 4-3 decision over Josh Stenger of UW-La Crosse. Then in the title match, his second period escape was the difference in a 6-5 decision over Noah Becker of St. John's. Berlin will enter the NCAA Championships with a 32-0 record on the year.
Jordan Weinzetl (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) picked up two wins on Saturday and placed fifth in the 165 bracket. He started his day with a 12-8 decision win. Then in the fifth-place match, he pinned Will Britain of Chicago at 2:26.
Dan Squires (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) took fifth in the 184 bracket after winning by decision in the fifth-place match against Helton Vandenbush of MSOE.
Austin Stebane (Brillion, Wis./Brillion) placed sixth in the 174 bracket. He started his day with a 7-6 decision victory.
Mason Wheeler (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) finished seventh in the 149 bracket, earning a 6-1 decision in the seventh-place match. At 285,
Noah Wieczorek (Clear Lake, Wis./Clear Lake) also took seventh, earning a 9-7 decision win.

Brandon Peckham (Plainfield, Wis./Tri-County) took eighth after a pair of decision losses on Saturday.
Berlin will compete at the NCAA Championships beginning on March 13 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
