WHITEWATER, Wis. – In the second-to-last meet before the WIAC Championships, the UW-Stevens Point track and field team performances on Saturday at the Midwest Invitational were highlighted by the women's field athletes. UWSP's women took fourth in the eight-team field while the men came in seventh of nine teams.
 
Results
 
Abby Nelson (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) took second in the pole vault after clearing a height of 11-05.75 (3.50 meters).
 
Briana Simonis (Rosholt, Wis./Rosholt) came in second in the high jump with a jump of 5-04.25 (1.63 meters).
 
Kasy Walker-Daniels (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) finished third in the triple jump with a jump of 36-11.50 (11.26 meters).
 
Shannon Nelson (Franklin, Wis./Oak Creek) came in third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.32, just 0.07 seconds behind the runner-up.
 
On the men's side, the squad of Sam Welch (Manawa, Wis./Manawa), Calden Wojt (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield), Quinn Brownell (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) and Evan Torgerson (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) placed third in the 4x400-meter run with a time of 3:21.78.
 
Torgerson took fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.60.  Blake Orr (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) also picked up a fourth-place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 55-09.25 (17.00 meters).
 
The Pointers travel to Oshkosh on Saturday (Feb. 22) for the final tune-up before the conference meet.  The Titan Challenge begins at 9:30 a.m.
