WHITEWATER, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's track and field team had a strong showing at the UW-Whitewater Invitational on Saturday led by Sylviann Momont's (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) win in the pentathlon.
 
Results
 
Momont won the pentathlon by nearly 100 points, 3594 to 3499 by the runner-up.  She won the 60-meter hurdles (9.01), high jump (5-04.50, 1.64 meters), shot put (39-04.50, 12.00 meters) and the long jump (17-11.50, 5.47 meters).
 
Michelle Petkovsek (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.53, less than a second behind the event winner and just 0.37 seconds ahead of teammate Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot).
 
Abby Nelson (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) continued her impressive season on the pole vault.  She took second clearing a height of 11-03.50 (3.44 meters).
 
In throws, Larkin Hoepner (Eau Claire, Wis./North) turned in a second-place performance in the shot put with a distance of 45-01.00 (13.74 meters).  She took third in weight throw at 54-06.75 (16.63 meters).
 
UWSP hosts the Big Dawg Invite on Saturday (Feb. 8).  Events begin at 10:30 a.m.
