STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams officially opened the 2020 indoor season on Saturday at the WIAC Tri in the multi-Activity Center.  UWSP's men's team won four events while the women took six event victories.
 
Results
 
Amanda Cieslinski (West Allis, Wis./Central) ran away with the 3,000-meter run, winning the race by 15 seconds in a time of 11:28.92.  Sylviann Momont (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) won the 60-meter hurdles over teammate Elle Maculan (Rockford, Ill./Auburn) with a time of 9.20.
 
Abby Nelson (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) impressed in her debut at pole vault, winning the event by clearing a height of 11-08.50 (3.57 meters).  Kasy Walker-Daniels (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) won the triple jump by more than two feet with a distance of 37-06.75 (11.45 meters).
 
Adrienne Lewis (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) added a win in the long jump, out-distancing the pack with a leap of 17-11.75 (5.48 meters). Larkin Hoepner (Eau Claire, Wis./North) earned the victory in the shot put with a distance of 45-02.25 (13.77 meters).
 
On the men's side, Matt Cieslak (Wilmot, Wis./Wilmot) edged out teammate Sam Welch (Manawa, Wis./Manawa) by just 0.05 seconds, winning with a time of 50.80.  Michael Kluz (Oconomowoc,Wis./Oconomowoc) led a trio of top finishers for the Pointers in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:19.87.
 
Alex Jochman (Kaukauna, Wis./Kaukauna) took the win in the pole vault at a height of 14-04.00 (4.37 meters).  Tom Kohn (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka) dominated the triple jump with a distance of 48-10.75 (14.90 meters), more than five feet further thant the runner-up.
 
UWSP will travel to Whitewater on Friday and Saturday for the Whitewater Multi, "Squig" Converse Invite and Women's Invite.
