WAUKESHA, Wis. – Freshman goalkeeper
Miranda Nieman (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) picked up her third shutout of the season as the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (4-1-2) played to a 0-0 draw at Carroll (4-1-1) on Wednesday in non-conference play.
Nieman was not tested until the 58th minute when she made the first of three second-half saves. She made one more save in the second overtime to record her third shutout of the year. Nieman ran her unbeaten streak to six matches (4-0-2) with the draw.
The Pointers' best scoring chance came late in the first half as senior
Kassidy Spees (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa) rang one off the post in the 45th minute.
Freshman
Lauren Johnson (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./SPASH) led the Pointers with four shots as UWSP out-shot Carroll, 15-7. Carroll goalkeeper Christina O'Block made seven saves.
The Pointers return home to face Wartburg on Saturday (Sept. 21) with a 1:00 p.m. kickoff at Point Soccer Bowl.
