LINCOLN, Neb. – Senior
Kassidy Spees (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa) netted the game-winner as the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (3-1-1) extended its unbeaten streak to four matches with a 1-0 win at Nebraska Wesleyan (4-1-0).
Spees scored in the 36th minute off a cross from
Kaitlyn Hess (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) to give UWSP a 1-0 lead. The goal was Spees' first of the season.
Freshman goalkeeper
Miranda Nieman (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) made three saves in the match, all after UWSP had the lead. It was her second shutout of the season and she improves to 3-0-1 on the campaign.
Fellow freshman
Kati Frierdich (Neenah, Wis./Winneconne) led the Pointers with four shots as UWSP out-shot the Prairie Wolves, 13-5.
NWU goalkeeper Liz Wolf made seven saves as the Prairie Wolves took their first loss of the season.
The Pointers continue the road trip on Sunday (Sept. 15) at Coe. Kickoff in Iowa is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
