Mikayla Brown (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) scored twice in the second half as the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (1-1-0) took down host Marian (1-1-0) by a 2-0 final on Sunday.
Brown got UWSP on the board just a minute and 29 seconds into the second half. Senior
Maddy Hardyman (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing) registered her first assist of the year on the play.
In the final minute of play, the duo connected again with Brown scoring off an assist from Hardyman to seal to 2-0 win.
The Pointers out-shot the Sabres 35-9 in the match. Freshman goalkeeper
Miranda Nieman (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) recorded the shutout with two saves in 90 minutes of play. Marian keeper Kylie Lange stopped 14 UWSP shots on goal.
The Pointers return home for a pair of matches next weekend, including the home opener against Macalester on Friday (Sept. 6) at 4:00 p.m.
