OSHKOSH, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's wrestling team suffered its first dual defeat of the year, 27-15, at UW-Oshkosh on Thursday.
 
Brandon Peckham (Plainfield, Wis./Tri-County) won a 5-3 decision at 157 to begin the dual and put UWSP in front.  Reigning WIAC Wrestler of the Week Jordan Weinzetl (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) followed with a 15-0 tech fall victory at 165.
 
At 184, Austin Stebane (Brillion, Wis./Brillion) battled to the sixth overtime before succumbing in a 4-3 decision.  Jerry Lipke (Milton, Wis./Milton) also went to overtime and prevailed in the third OT with an 8-6 decision win.
 
Noah Wieczorek (Clear Lake, Wis./Clear Lake) battled back from a big deficit at 285 to make it close at the end, but fell, 8-5.  Consecutive forfeit wins by UWO at 125 and 133 virtually locked up the dual for the Titans.
 
Zane Strubler (St. Paris, Ohio/Miami East) won a 9-1 major decision at 141, but it wasn't enough as the Pointers dropped the dual.
 
UWSP travels to Mequon on Saturday (Nov. 23) for the CUW Open.  Action begins at 9:00 a.m.
