PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (10-4-2, 4-2-0) out-shot UW-Platteville (2-13-2, 1-7-2), but the Pointers fell, 2-0, in league action on Saturday.
The Pioneers struck first in the 40th minute on a UWSP own goal. The goal stood until the 60th minute when UWP added a second to complete the scoring.
The Pointers controlled play in the first half with four corner kicks and nine shots. In the second half, UWSP had seven corner kicks and eight more shots, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Pioneers' goalkeeper Kathryn Flaherty made eight saves to shut out the Pointers.
Miranda Nieman (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) made one save for UWSP.
The Pointers travel to UW-La Crosse on Saturday (Nov. 2) to close out the regular season. Kick off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
