MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. –
Dylan Diebitz (West Allis, Wis./West Allis) and
Dan Squires (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) qualified for the NCAA Championships and the UW-Stevens Point wrestling team placed fourth after the two-day Upper Midwest Regional hosted by Augsburg University.
Results
Diebitz punched his ticket to the NCAAs with a 6-4 decision win in the semifinals. He came up just short in the regional title match by a narrow 201 decision in the 197 bracket.
Squires opened his day with a 9-7 decision to reach the third-place match at 184. In that match, he earned a 7-2 win to move on the NCAAs.
David Granatelli (Appleton, Wis./North) picked up a 2-1 decision win in his opening match of day two in the 157 consolation bracket. Then in the third-place match, he dropped a 5-2 decision.
Diebitz and Squires will head to Cleveland, Ohio, for the NCAA Championships on March 9 and 10.
