DUBUQUE, Iowa – The UW-Stevens Point wrestling team recorded three dual wins at the UD Duals on Saturday. UWSP took a 35-12 win over Wheaton to begin the day followed by a 25-17 victory over host Dubuque. The day concluded with a 35-9 win over MSOE.

Matt Berlin (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek),
Ben Vosters (Hatley, Wis./Wittenberg-Birnamwood),
Luke Smiley (Plainfield, Ill./North) and
Jordan Weinzetl (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) each went 3-0 on the day for the Pointers.
James Borgen (Amherst, Wis./Amherst) won twice on the day.
In the opening dual of the day, Berlin at 141 and Borgen at 174 recorded falls against Wheaton.
Luke Smiley (Plainfield, Ill./North) earned a tech fall victory, 18-1, in just 2:27. Vosters,
Alex Heiden (Stratford, Wis./Stratford), Weinzetl and
Jerry Lipke (Milton, Wis./Milton) earned won by decision.
Vosters opened the dual against Dubuque with a fall at 133. Smiley earned another tech fall, 16-0, at 6:45. Borgen added a major decision win, 13-5. Berlin, Weinzetl,
Zack Moon (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) and
Steven Anderson (Appleton, Wis./East) won decisions.
In the night cap against MSOE, the Pointers jumped out to a big lead behind a tech fall, 16-0, by Vosters and a fall by Berlin. Smiley pinned his opponent in just 42 seconds. Weinzetl followed with a fall at 2:07 to put UWSP in front, 29-0. Wieczorek closed out the day with a fall at 5:44.
The Pointers return to action on Jan. 11 at the Budd Whitehill Duals in Williamsport, Pa.
