Track and Field Splits Squad Between Meets

The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams sent two squads of athletes to the Dr. Keeler Invite and UW-La Crosse Eagle Open on Friday. 
 
Dr. Keeler Invite (Results)
Jerry Williams (Watertown, WI/Watertown) led the Pointers with a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.68 seconds. The senior also finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 14.68 meters (48' 2").  Williams also teamed with Michael Von Schledorn (Lomira, Wis./Lomira), Lee Jensen and Caiden Wojt for the 4x100-meter relay, where the group finished in fourth with a time of 41.66 seconds.
 
Wojt also finished in second place in the 200-meter relay where he finished with a time of 21.75 seconds.
 
Michael Pomaville (Dousman, WI/Mukwonago) finished in 10th place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.12 seconds.
 
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Kathy Derks (Greenville, WI/Hortonville), Abigail Clement, Sarah Vils (Mosinee, WI/Mosinee), and Leah Trempe (Combined Locks, WI/Kimberly) finished in sixth-place with a time of 3:53.05. Derks also ran the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:16.59, good for 18th.
 
Hannah Mertens (West Bend, WI/Hartford Union) ran a 59.89 to finish seventh in the 400-meter dash.
 
Jacklyn Butler (Oshkosh, WI/West) finished in 16th in the 400-meter hurdles. Butler finished with a time of 1:07.21.
 
UW-La Crosse Eagle Open (Results)
Christan Ferguson won the high jump clearing the bar at a height of 2.04 meters (6' 8.25"). 
 
Senior Jesse Johnson (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) finished in first place in the pole vault.  He was able to clear the bar at a height of 4.83 meters (15' 10").
 
Logan Heil (Weston, WI/DC Everest) finished in second place in the hammer throw.  Heil was able to launch a distance of 55.49 meters (182' 01").
 
Abraham Schroedl finished in fifth place in the javelin throw with a distance of 43.11 meters (141' 05").
 
Following her first-place finish at the WIAC Championships in the javelin throw, Alex Grubbs (Minong, Wis./Spooner) won the event with a throw of 37.98 meters (124' 07"). 
 
Grubb's fellow throws teammate Karen Wethal (Evansville, WI/Evansville) finished in fourth place in the discus.  Wethal threw a distance of 42.23 meters (138' 6").  
 
Angela Breunig (Watertown, WI/Watertown) finished in fourth place in the pole vault.  Breunig was able to clear the bar at a height of 3.47 meters (11' 4.50"). 
Jamie Schmitz (Cashton, Wis./Cashton) finished in 10th place in the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles.  Schmitz finished with a time of 16.19. 
 
The Pointers travel to UW-La Crosse for the La Crosse qualifier on May 18.
