Box Score 2 CLERMONT, FL. - The UW-Stevens Point softball team dropped both games on Thursday afternoon at the Dot Richardson Spring Softball Games, falling 6-0 against the University of New England and14-6 (5 innings) versus Stockton University.

UWSP vs. StocktonThe Pointers (2-6) struggled at the plate in game one against Stockton's Sophie Burnham and Melissa Sprague as they combined for a no-hitter, one-walk performance.
In game two, with a shake-up of the lineup, the Pointers came out swinging, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Pointers strung together four hits for four runs.
Payton Mix (New London, WI/New London),
Justine Ertl (Menomonee Falls, WI/Menomonee Falls),
Cori Semler (Hartford, WI/Hartford Union) and
Jodi Vanderford (Kenosha, WI/Mary D. Bradford) each recorded a hit in the inning.
The Ospreys responded in the top of the second inning, taking advantage of a one Pointer error for a four-run inning of their own. Stockton continued their run spree with a five-hit, four-run third inning to double their lead over the Pointers to 8-4.
After a
Kylie Johnson (Iola, WI/Iola-Scandinavia) walk, Vanderford doubled to right-center, advancing Johnson to third in the the bottom of the third. Johnson scored in the next at-bat after
Kirsten Perkinson (Dunlap, IL/Dunlap) singled through the left side.
Paige Allen (South Elgin, IL/South Elgin) pinch hit in the next at-bat, scoring Vanderford with a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to 8-6.
The Ospreys took advantage of two more errors on the Pointers, totaling five errors on the game, for a six-run, three-hit inning to put the game out of reach for a 14-6 victory.
Vanderford led the Pointers with a 2-for-3 performance.
The Pointers look to bounce back tomorrow as they take on Bethel University and Bates College at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. ET start times.
