OSHKOSH, Wis. –
Kadie Flynn (Appleton, WI/North)'s third-place finish in the discus throw was the top finish for the UW-Stevens Point women's outdoor track and field team at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by UW-Oshkosh this weekend.
Full Results Flynn, a sophomore, placed third with a throw of 41.56 meters (136' 4"). As a team, UW-Stevens Point took sixth with 73 points, six behind UW-Stout. UW-La Crosse won the team title for the fourth year in a row with 232 points.
The Pointers had two individuals and three relays each take fourth place. Sophomore
Jasmine Haines (East Troy, WI/East Troy) ran to a fourth-place finish in the 400 meter dash (58.40s), while freshman
Stormy Gerndt (Mountain, WI/Suring) was fourth in the high jump (1.60m, 5' 3").
Hannah School (Wittenburg, WI/Wittenburg-Birnamwood), Abigail Clement,
Malik Thompson (Hortonville, WI/Fox Valley Lutheran) and Haines placed fourth in the 4x100 meter relay (49.29). The team of
Megan School (Wittenberg, WI/Wittenberg-Birnamwood), Haines,
Sarah Vils (Mosinee, WI/Mosinee) and
Kristin Mathes (Kiel, WI/Kiel) took fourth in the 4x400 meter relay (3:59.71). The 4x800 meter relay of
Nicole Hanson (Clintonville, WI/Clintonville),
Kathy Derks (Greenville, WI/Hortonville),
Kelsey Laska (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah Community) and Mathes was fourth as well (9:34.11).
Mathes also added an individual top-five finish in the 800 meter run, coming in fifth with a time of 2:15.19.
The Pointers compete at the first of two Last Chance Meets on Thursday and Friday, May 8-9.
