LA CROSSE, Wis. –
Stormy Gerndt (Mountain, WI/Suring) and
Audra Weis (Burlington, WI/Burlington) posted individual event victories on Friday afternoon as the UW-Stevens Point women's track & field team posted a fourth place finish out of nine teams at the 2014 Phil Esten Challenge, hosted by UW-La Crosse.
ResultsStormy Gerndt (Mountain, WI/Suring) was the high jump champion, clearing 1.61 meters (5 3.25"), collecting 10 team points.
Audra Weis (Burlington, WI/Burlington),
Shannon Burke (Sussex, WI/Hamilton) and
Samantha Haas (Waupun, WI/Waupun) finished in the top three spots of the pole vault. Weis cleared 3.67 meters (12' .5"), Burke 3.52 meters (11' 6.5") and Haas 3.37 meters (11' .75"). Weis' vault was a lifetime PR and currently ranks her as the top vaulter in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and 13th in Division III.
Lauren Dilley (Middleton, WI/Middleton) finished fifth in the 5000-meter run, posting a time of 18:25.49, over 10 seconds better than her seed time, earning four team points.
The 4x100 meter relay team of
Hannah School (Wittenburg, WI/Wittenburg-Birnamwood) ,
Jasmine Haines (East Troy, WI/East Troy), Abigail Clement and
Jacklyn Butler (Oshkosh, WI/West) posted a fifth place finish with a time of 49.74.
The 4x400 meter relay team of
Nicole Hanson (Clintonville, WI/Clintonville),
Kristin Mathes (Kiel, WI/Kiel), School and
Sarah Vils (Mosinee, WI/Mosinee) posted a time of 4:01.94, good for a fourth place finish.
Megan School (Wittenberg, WI/Wittenberg-Birnamwood) finished fourth in the long jump, posting a 5.19 meter jump (17' .5").
The Pointers return to the track for the prestigious Drake Relays Thursday-Saturday, April 24-26 in Des Moines, Iowa. The Pointers will also compete at UW-Whitewater's Drake Alternative April 26 in Whitewater.
