STEVENS POINT, Wis. –
Maggie Martin (Chilton, WI/Chilton) set a new school record in the weight throw on Saturday afternoon as the UW-Stevens Point women's track and field team opened the season with the Alumni Open meet. No team scores were kept.

Martin registered a toss of 17.04 meters (55' 11") to take home the school mark and the weight throw's top finish.
Elsewhere, in the 200 meter dash,
Hannah School (Wittenburg, WI/Wittenburg-Birnamwood) and Abigail Clement finished 1-2, posting times of 26.93 and 27.65, respectively. In the 400 meter dash,
Kristin Mathes (Kiel, WI/Kiel),
Kathy Derks (Greenville, WI/Hortonville) and
Nicole Hanson (Clintonville, WI/Clintonville) took the top three spots in the event, with Mathes leading the way with her time of 1:01.65.
The pole vault was dominated by the Pointers, with
Shannon Burke (Sussex, WI/Hamilton) clearing 3.38 meters (11' 1").
Kadie Flynn (Appleton, WI/North) finished second with a toss of 15.48 (50' 9.5"). Flynn was the top finisher in the shot put, with a toss of 12.03 meters (39' 5.75").
Jasmine Haines (East Troy, WI/East Troy) was the top finisher in the 300 meter dash, posting a time of 42.74.
The Pointers return to action next Saturday, January 25 at UW-Platteville.
