EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's golf team closed out the spring portion of its schedule on Sunday afternoon at the UW-Eau Claire Spring Invitational. The Pointers finished third at the four team event.

Mary Welch (Madison, WI/West) led the way for the Pointers, finishing eighth in the field of 24 golfers with a two-day 167 (+23).

McKenna Prestigiacomo (Madison, WI/LaFollette) matched Welch's day two score of 83 to finish in 10th place overall with a two-day 169 (+25).

Kayla Johnson (Shawano, WI/Shawano) finished in 17th place, shooting a day two 90 for a two-day total of 186 (+42) and Olivia Schiefelbein (Johnston, IA/Johnston) was nine strokes better than day one to finish in 20th place with a two-day 199 (+55).

UW-Eau Claire finished in first place while UW-Stout finished second. UW-River Falls finished fourth.

UWSP's Welch will await word of an individual at-large bid to the 2012 NCAA Division III Championships in Angola, Ind., May 8-12. Bids will be announced next week.
