STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point softball team saw its comeback attempt fall just short as the Pointers fell in game 7-6 to the visiting Green Knights of St. Norbert College. The Pointers won the opener 8-5.

Trailing 1-0 after the first half inning, the Pointers scored seven unanswered to pull in front 7-1 after the second inning.
St. Norbert scored two runs in the third and added another in the sixth to pull within 7-4, but an insurance run by the Pointers in the home-half of the sixth gave UWSP the 8-4 edge.
A lone run in the seventh by the Knights was not enough, as the Pointers picked up their second consecutive victory.
Michelle Jones (Madison, WI/La Follette) earned the complete game victory, scattering 11 hits and allowing five runs, four earned, striking out two.
Bekah Rennicke (Mequon, WI/Homestead) finished the day 2-for-4 with three RBIs while
Kelly Arndt (Ashwaubenon, WI/Ashwaubenon) drove in a pair of runs with her only hit of the day.
Jordon Schreiner (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna) also collected two hits and drove in a run in game one.
In game two, the Pointers fell behind early, surrendering all seven Green Knight runs in the opening inning.
The Pointers plated a run in the fifth inning after breaking up SNC starter Morgan Rusch's perfect game to make the score 7-1 after five.
In the seventh, the Pointers put a five-run rally together and, with the bases loaded and two outs, Green Knight game one starter Schmidt induced a fly-out to end the Pointers threat and give St. Norbert the 7-6 victory.
Sam Raddant (Shawano, WI/Shawano) finished game two 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Rennicke also finished the day with two hits and two runs scored.
UW-Stevens Point (13-23) closes out the regular season on Saturday, April 28 with a pair of conference games against UW-Stout. First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for 2 p.m. at McCarty Memorial field in Stevens Point.
