Pointers open oudoor season with fourth-place finishes

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Pointers collected 104.5 points on Saturday to finish fourth at the First Chance outdoor meet of the 2012 season, hosted by North Central College.

Top finishers from the day included Kelly Haen (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna), who followed up her All-American showing at indoor nationals with a first-place finish in the 1500-meter run, posting a time of 4:44.81.

Erin Kline (Casco, WI/Luxemburg-Casco) also continued her success in the hurdles, posting a win in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.09. Kline also posted a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, posting a lifetime personal record of 1:06.67. Kline now ranks 16th in the nation in the 100 hurdles and 39th overall in the 400 hurdles.

Several Pointers also competed in the UW-Oshkosh Open, where Cara Jansen (North Liberty, IA/Iowa City West) set a new personal record in the shot put, posting a mark of 12.33 meters (40' 5.5”). The throw ranks her 33rd in the nation in the event and helped her to a fourth-place finish.

The Pointers return to action at the Rex Foster Invite at UW-Whitewater on April 6.
