FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The UW-Stevens Point softball team tallied a pair of victories on Wednesday afternoon, defeating the Sabres of Marian University 6-2 and 14-2 in nonconference action.

In game one, the host Sabres took the early 2-0 lead and held the Pointers scoreless until the fourth inning when
Kelly Arndt (Ashwaubenon, WI/Ashwaubenon)'s two-run home run tied the score. Katie Schulfer then reached on an error and came around to score on a RBI single by
Sam Raddant (Shawano, WI/Shawano), giving the Pointers a 3-2 lead.
The Pointers tacked on a pair of unearned runs in the fifth and another run in the sixth to seal the victory 6-2.
Sara Babbitts (Green Bay, WI/Ashwaubenon) secured the win, pitching a complete game with five strikeouts, surrendering just seven hits.
The Pointers bats stayed hot in game two, as the Pointers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and never looked back, scoring runs in every inning but one en route to a 14-2 run-shortened five inning contest.
Raddant and
Brittany Sass (Appleton, WI/East) each collected three hits in game two while
Alicia Hahnemann (Appleton, WI/West) was 2-3 as was
Bekah Rennicke (Mequon, WI/Homestead).
Michelle Jones (Madison, WI/La Follette) earned the victory, her seventh of the season, throwing four innings of two-hit ball, striking out eight.
UW-Stevens Point (10-8) returns to action on Saturday, March 31 when it opens the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference portion of the schedule at UW-Eau Claire. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
