MARQUETTE, Mich. – The UW-Stevens Point softball team added two more wins to its resume on Sunday afternoon, earning victories against Simpson College 10-8 and Marian University 9-7 in extra innings.
Michelle Jones (Madison, WI/La Follette) won both games, throwing 11 1/3 innings, allowing seven earned runs and struck out eight.
Bekah Rennicke (Mequon, WI/Homestead), who threw 3 1/3 innings in relief, was a perfect 3-for-3 on the day, scoring three runs including her first home run of the season.
Kelly Arndt (Ashwaubenon, WI/Ashwaubenon) finished the day 4-for-9 with a double and four RBIs and freshman
Maddie Sawdey (Medford, WI/Medford) hit her first collegiate home run.
Megan Stebane (Kaukauna, WI/Brillion) also hit her first home run of the season.
The Pointers, by virtue of their 4-0 record on the weekend, were named tournament co-champions along with Carthage College. Jones and Rennicke were also selected to the All-Tournament Team for their efforts.
UW-Stevens Point returns to action March 18-24 at the NTC games in Clermont, Fla.
