Pointers finish fifth at WIAC Indoor Championships

MENOMONIE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's indoor track and field team finished fifth at the 2012 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship, as three Pointers took home conference titles.

Day one of the event, held at UW-Stout, saw Julia Colling (Maplewood, MN/North) win the conference title in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:48.32.

Day two of the event saw two more Pointers take home conference crowns, as Kelly Haen (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna) secured the 3,000-meter run title with a time of 10:28.97 and Erin Kline (Casco, WI/Luxemburg-Casco) win the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.88.

Kline also established a new conference meet record in the event prelims, posting a time of 8.81.

The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh won its second straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) women's indoor track and field championship. The Titans amassed 152 points during the two-day competition to secure the 13th first-place trophy in program history.

An All-Sportsmanship Team was chosen for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season that included Jamie Clarkson (Stevens Point, WI/Lakeland Union High School).

UW-Stevens Point returns to action at the Pointer Qualifier on March 3 in the team's final tune-up before the 2012 NCAA Division III Indoor Championship held in Grinnel, Iowa.
