JANESVILLE – The UW-Stevens Point women's golf team stayed consistent over the weekend, firing identical team scores of 338 on both Friday and Saturday as the team finished fourth of 10 teams at the 2011 Whitewater Fall Fling at the Riverside Golf Course.

Mary Welch (Madison, WI/West) paced the Pointers with a two-day 158, finishing third. McKenna Prestigiacomo (Madison, WI/LaFollette) finished tied for fifth place, shaving four strokes off her day-one 84 to shoot a second round 80.

Elsewhere, Kayla Johnson (Shawano, WI/Shawano) finished tied for 25th with a two-day 175. Ashley Schmidt finished tied for 30th place with a 179 and Olivia Schiefelbein (Johnston, IA/Johnston) finished tied for 48th with her 188.

Carroll University finished as the tournament's top team, one stroke ahead of second place Carthage College.

The Pointers will get their final tune-up of the fall before the 2011 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships with some home cooking, as the team will host the UW-Stevens Point invite on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 1-2 at the Stevens Point Country Club.
