OSHKOSH – UW-Stevens Point sophomore Mary Welch (Madison, WI/West) shot her first career hole-in-one on Sunday afternoon on her way to individual medalist honors at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational at the Oshkosh Country Club. The Pointers finished as the first place team at the event as well.

Welch's ace came on the par-3 14th hole. Her second round 72 was a season-best and was nine strokes better than her opening round 81.

As a team the Pointers shot a two-day 667, to strokes ahead of second place Carroll University's 669. 

Elsewhere for the event champion Pointers, McKenna Prestigiacomo (Madison, WI/LaFollette) and Olivia Schiefelbein (Johnston, IA/Johnston) finished tied for 10th after recording a two-day 171 (+25). Ashley Schmidt finished tied for 22nd with a two-day 176 (+30) and Kayla Johnson (Shawano, WI/Shawano) finished tied for 24th with a 171 (+31).

The Pointers return to action on Sept. 17-18 when they head to the Illinois Wesleyan Invite in Bloomington, Ill.
