Women's track fifth at WIAC Championships

PLATTEVILLE – The UW-Stevens Point women's track & field team ran its way to a fifth place finish on Saturday afternoon at the 2011 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by UW-Platteville.

UW-Oshkosh won the event, their 11th league crown in program history. UW-Eau Claire took second with 143 points, four-time defending champion UW-La Crosse finished third, UW-Whitewater fourth. 

Individually, Claire Roberts (Oakfield/Horace Mann) won the 5,000 meter run championship with her time of 18:04.20 in the event.  

The 4x800-Meter Relay team of Tia Nowak (East Troy, WI/East Troy High School), Sarah Glunn (Arborvitae/Lakeland Union), Kelly Haen (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna) and Roberts also took home a conference title with their top time of 9:14.69. 

 Jamie Clarkson (Stevens Point, WI/Lakeland Union High School) was also UW-Stevens Point's nominee for the league's Larry Zirgibel All-Sportsmanship Team.
