Women Sixth at 2011 WIAC Indoor Track Championships

MENOMONIE – The UW-Stevens Point women's indoor track & field team collected 61 team points on its way to a sixth place finish at the 2011 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by UW-Stout.

Claire Roberts (Oakfield/Horace Mann) took home the conference title in the 3000 meter run, posting a time of 10:32.64. Shawn Krueger finished third in the 3000 meter run. 

Roberts also finished second in the one mile run, posting a time of 5:08.75. Sarah Glunn (Arborvitae/Lakeland Union) finished fourth in the event with her time of 5:12.33. 

Kelly Haen (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna) posted a runner-up finish in the 5000 meter run, posting a time of 18:00.52.

Erin Kline (Casco, WI/Luxemburg-Casco) and sister Sara Kline (Casco/Luxemberg-Casco) finished 3-4 in the finals of the 55 meter hurdles with times of 8>38 and 8.43, respectively. The times are also provisional qualifying marks.

The Pointers will have one final chance to try and qualify athletes for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships at the Pointer Qualifier on Saturday, March 5 in Stevens Point. The Pointers then head to Columbus, Ohio on March 11-12 for the NCAA championships hosted by Capitol University.
