WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Mary Welch fired a day three 81 to hold on to the lead and finish as the first ever individual medalist from UW-Stevens Point at the 2011 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Golf Championships held at Bull's Eye Country Club. 

Welch held the lead from beginning to end at the three-day tournament and finished just one stroke better than Catherine Wagner from UW-Eau Claire with a 238.

The Blugolds took home the team title at the event, outpacing the second-place Pointers by 54 strokes. Eau Claire had its top four golfers finish second, fourth, fifth and sixth individually. 

Elsewhere for UWSP, McKenna Prestigiacomo (Madison, WI/LaFollette) finished tied for 12th overall with a three-day 259, Kayla Johnson (Shawano, WI/Shawano) finished 14th with a three-day 260, Olivia Schiefelbein (Johnston, IA/Johnston) finished tied for 24th and Ashley Schmidt finished tied for 35th.
