JANESVILLE – Three UW-Stevens Point golfers finished in the top-10 on Friday, led by Danelle Olson (Detroit Lakes, MN/Detroit Lakes)'s fourth place finish, as the Pointers finished second at the 18 hole event.

Host UW-Whitewater finished with a 339 (+47) at the event while the Pointers were seven strokes behind with a 346 (+54).

Olson fired a 42 on both the front and back nine at the Riverside Golf Course to finish tied with fellow Pointer McKenna Prestigiacomo, who shot a 45 on the front nine but rebounded with a 39 on the back to shoot an 84 (+11).

Mary Welch (Madison, WI/West) followed close behind the two leaders, finishing tied for ninth thanks to an 87 (+14). Elsewhere, Kayla Johnson (Shawano, WI/Shawano) finished tied for 17th with an 18 over 91 and Olivia Schiefelbein (Johnston, IA/Johnston) finished tied for 37th with a 28 over 101.

The Pointers will travel to UW-Platteville for a two-day tournament this Saturday and Sunday Sept. 25-26. The event, originally scheduled to take place at the Platteville Country Club, the event has been moved to the House on the Rock Resort in Spring Green.
