BEREA, Ohio – The UW-Stevens Point women's 4x400 meter relay kept the Pointers hopes of a strong showing alive at the 2010 NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships, posting the Pointers only qualifying time at the event.
Results
The 4x400 meter relay team of
Elizabeth Caine (Plover/SPASH),
Kristin Kuber (Tomahawk/Tomahawk),
Chelsea Czarnecki (Ashland, WI/Ashland) and
Kathleen Folbrecht (Jefferson/Jefferson) posted a time of 3:49.67 in the first heat of the day for the Pointers, a mark that qualifies them for the event finals to be run on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The 4x400 relay team will be the Pointers only chance to score team points at the 2010 Championships after the Pointers other qualifiers for nationals did not post qualifying marks in their respective events. If the Pointers posted a first place finish in the event, they would fault the team into at best 11th place.
Elsewhere, Caine failed to qualify for the finals in the 100 meter dash, running a time of 12.30.
Folbrecht also fell short of the qualifying time in the 400 meter dash, posting a time of 57.53 in the first heat of the event preliminaries.
Claire Roberts (Oakfield/Horace Mann) posted a time of 4:41.52 in the 1500 meter run, short of the qualifying mark.
Sara and
Erin Kline also came just short of qualifying for the finals in the 100 meter hurdles, as Erin posted a time of 15.27 and Sarah a time of 14.50.
