CLERMONT, Fla. - The Pointer softball team posted a 1-1 record on Thursday while on their spring trip in Florida, dropping the day's opening game 4-3 to the University of Chicago before rebounding with a 7-4 victory over Washington & Jefferson.

Michelle Jones suffered the loss against Chicago. Offensively, Kimberly Liegel finished the day 1-3 with a triple while Brittany Zelenka was 1-3 with a double and Elyse Nelson finished the day 2-2.

In the rebound victory over Washington & Jefferson, Chelsea Hensler picked up the victory on the hill, while Cassie Krum earned the save, preserving the three run victory.

Offensively, the Pointers were led by Sarah Butts, who finished the day 2-2 with a double. Liegel was 1-2 in the second game, adding yet another double to her spring total. Melissa Wenig finished the day 2-2 with two RBI while Lauren Watkins finished the day 2-2 with a triple.

The Pointers close out their spring trip on Friday with three games. The Pointers will face Southern Maine and Union (N.Y.) before playing Grinnell (Iowa) in a make-up game from a rain-out the first day of the trip.
