MARQUETTE, Mich. – The UW-Stevens Point softball team opened the 2010 season with a 7-0 loss to Gustavus on Saturday afternoon, but rebounded with a 4-0 victory over Milwaukee School of Engineering.

In the season opener, the Pointers were held to just two hits on their way to the shutout loss.

In the nightcap, the Pointer bats came alive, as Kimberly Liegel finished the game 2-2 with a double and a RBI. On the mound, Chelsea Hensler pitched a complete game gem, giving up just two hits and three walks while striking out five in her debut in the purple and gold.

The Pointers return to action on Sunday with games against Simpson and Marian at the Finlandia Dome Invitational in Marquette, Mich.
