Pointers Place Second at Pointer Eastbay Invitational

STEVENS POINT – The UW-Stevens Point women's track and field team used four first place finishes to run to a second place finish at the Pointer Eastbay Invitational on Saturday afternoon in the Multi-Activity Center. 

UW-Oshkosh finished in first place with 146 team points while UW-Stevens Point took second with 98 and UW-Eau Claire was third with 97.

The Pointers Sara Kline (Casco) took home first place with a final time of 8.42 seconds in the 55 meter hurdles. Freshman Erin Kline (Casco) placed right behind her in second with a time of 8.52 seconds.

Senior Kathleen Folbrecht (Jefferson) claimed the top spot in the 400 meter dash for the Pointers second individual first place finish with a time of 58.74 seconds

The distance medley team of Kelly Haen (Kaukauna), Chelsea Czarnecki (Ashland), Sarah Glunn (Arborvitae) and Claire Roberts (Oakfield) blew out their competition with a finishing time of 12:01.62. The second place finishers from St. Norbert finished with a time of 12:25.34. With their performance the medley team qualified for the NCAA indoor track and field championships with the sixth best time in the country.

The other first place finish came from the 4x400 relay team with a finishing time of 3:59.69. The Pointers 4x200 relay team ran to a second place finish posting a time of 1:49.53.

Other notable performances from the track included a second place finish by Nikki Bruhn (Marshfield) in the 5000 meter run with a time of 19:27.76. Elizabeth Caine (Plover) was able to run to a second place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.99 seconds and a third place finish in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.31 seconds.

The Pointers will return to action Sunday, February 28th when they travel to Platteville for the WIAC Indoor Championships.
